The Light We Carry, a free art exhibition exploring Malaysian Indian identity, culture and belonging, opens at The LINC KL on 24 October and runs daily until 1 November 2026.
Presented by Beats n Bru and kuro.haus, with The LINC KL as venue partner, the nine-day showcase is curated by Stephen Menon. It brings together 15 artists under one roof, alongside workshops, a short film screening, cultural performances and a marketplace.
Doors are open from 10am to 10pm daily at the Level 2 Event Space. Entry is free, and opening hours have been extended from those first announced, making it easier to drop by after work or between weekend plans.
What to Expect at The Light We Carry
At its heart, The Light We Carry looks at what it means to be Malaysian Indian today: the traditions handed down through families, the everyday stories that shape a community, and the question of where we belong.
The exhibition poster sets the tone. A brass kuthu vilakku, the traditional oil lamp lit in Indian homes and temples, glows at the centre. Around it sit kolam patterns, temple towers, shophouse facades, jasmine blooms and banana leaves, all rendered in bold reds, blues and gold. The result feels rooted in heritage, yet unmistakably Malaysian.
Beyond the artworks, the programme invites visitors to take part rather than simply look on:
- Art exhibition featuring works by 15 artists
- Hands-on workshops
- Short film screening
- Cultural performances
- A marketplace to browse and support local creatives
Meet the Featured Artists

The Light We Carry showcases a diverse line-up of artists: Sanker Ganesh, Sivananthan K, Jagan Ragunathan, Sharini Yogi, Tulika Prakash, Thanaselvam, Sandru, Thineswari G, Suzanne Christie, Roova Lijuan, Dinesh Pusparani, Kumar Nagalingam, Veshalini Naidu, Vishalini Kumar and Shamine Boovanasan.
Together, their works offer many personal takes on identity, culture and belonging, the three ideas that anchor the exhibition. For visitors, it is a chance to see how each artist interprets a shared heritage in their own voice.
Chandrabookhi Postponed, Not Cancelled
The organisers have also shared an update on Chandrabookhi, which was originally scheduled for 31 October. The event has been moved to a later date after the team ran into logistics issues, while the ongoing haze has left several team members unwell.
As a small group of creatives organising events for the community, the team would rather take the time needed to show up properly. They have been clear that Chandrabookhi is postponed, not cancelled, and will return with a new date soon.
The new date will be announced on the Beats n Bru Instagram page once it is confirmed.

A Season of Art and Culture in Kuala Lumpur
