Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have fresh reason to aim higher as JOM MALAYSIA 2026 kicks off at Lotus’s Ampang, Selangor. Lotus’s Malaysia and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) have reaffirmed their long-standing partnership to help local businesses enter modern retail, sharpen their competitiveness and build businesses that last.
The JOM MALAYSIA 2026 launch on 22 October was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Rohaizi bin Bahari, Undersecretary, Distributive Trade and Business Division, KPDN, alongside Azliza Baizura Azmel, Executive Director, Corporate Services, Lotus’s Malaysia.
From Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia to JOM MALAYSIA 2026
Previously known as Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia, the initiative was repositioned by KPDN this year as Jom Beli Produk Malaysia, or JOM MALAYSIA. The new name reflects a renewed emphasis on promoting Malaysian products while strengthening the enterprises behind them.
In his officiating speech, Datuk Rohaizi said that behind every Malaysian product are entrepreneurs, workers and families who depend on its success.
“We do not just want more Malaysian products to be bought. We want more Malaysian businesses to succeed,” he said.
He added that consumers should choose local products because they trust their quality and value, not simply because they are made in Malaysia.
New Suppliers Appointed, Top SMEs Recognised
A key highlight of JOM MALAYSIA 2026 at Lotus’s was the presentation of appointment certificates to new Lotus’s suppliers, marking an important milestone on their path to wider market access and long-term growth.

The programme also recognised outstanding SME suppliers for their sales growth and delivery performance, celebrating the quality, consistency and commitment needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Why JOM MALAYSIA 2026 Goes Beyond Shelf Space
For Lotus’s, supporting local enterprises is both a national commitment and a long-term business priority. Through its 71 stores nationwide, the retailer gives homegrown products a platform to reach customers, while working with suppliers to strengthen product standards, operational readiness and supply consistency.
“Behind every Malaysian product is an entrepreneur with an ambition, employees building their livelihoods and families whose futures are connected to that business. Supporting local SMEs means investing in people and the potential of Malaysian businesses,” said Azliza.
“Our role goes beyond providing shelf space. We want to help entrepreneurs build the capabilities and confidence to grow, because when our suppliers succeed, our customers benefit from greater choice and value, while our business becomes stronger alongside them,” she added.
Building Capabilities Through the Lotus’s SME Empowerment Seminar
Securing a retail listing is only the first step. To help entrepreneurs stay on the shelf, Lotus’s runs its SME Empowerment Seminar, now in its third edition under the theme “Unlock Your Potential – Mastering Business Growth for SMEs”. Each edition has drawn more than 150 participants from over 80 micro-enterprises, offering practical insights into branding, product quality, supply consistency and the commercial requirements of modern retail.
Datuk Rohaizi commended the effort, noting that entrepreneurs need knowledge and skills, not just opportunities, and hoped more companies would do the same.
Four-Day Carnival Puts Local Brands in Front of Shoppers
JOM MALAYSIA 2026 also features a four-day carnival at Lotus’s Ampang, where 20 local entrepreneurs showcase their products directly to customers. Backed by in-store promotions, social media and product sampling, the carnival helps participants boost visibility, engage shoppers and gather feedback on product appeal, pricing and presentation.
Lotus’s Ampang will also host the Lotus’s Chef Challenge 2026 from 31 October to 1 November.
A Shared Commitment to Malaysian Businesses
The collaboration shows how Government direction and industry expertise can complement each other. As Datuk Rohaizi put it: “The Government provides support. Companies open up opportunities. Entrepreneurs build capabilities. And consumers give their trust through their choices.”
Through JOM MALAYSIA 2026, Lotus’s and KPDN reaffirm their shared commitment to ensuring that support for Malaysian products translates into stronger businesses, greater consumer choice and lasting contributions to the domestic economy.
