Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2) is excited to announce the launch of its “Less Scars, Less Pain” campaign, running through 31 December 2024. This campaign is all about spreading the word about DSH2’s focus on safe, precise, and minimally invasive surgery innovations to the public. These advanced procedures improve overall well-being, speed up recovery, and leave patients with less scarring and pain after surgery.

A New Era In Cardiac Care At DSH2

The campaign has two phases, both showcasing DSH2’s commitment to excellent healthcare.

The first phase is “Zip-less: Beyond The Beat”, bringing light on minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS). DSH2 is eager to show how these advanced procedures, such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), mitral valve replacement, and aortic valve replacement, are pushing the boundaries of heart surgery. The goal is to highlight how these innovations are making a real difference in cardiac care.

The next phase is “Redefined Precision: Where Robotics Meet Expertise”. In this phase, the focus is on advanced robotic technologies in surgery. These high-tech tools enable surgeons to perform with remarkable precision and agility for patients. Through its cutting-edge technology, they will recover quickly and have fewer complications.

The Chief Executive Officer of Damansara Specialist Hospital 2, Tan Sok Kheng shared,

This keeps to DSH2’s future vision for MICS, which is to be the centre of excellence in heart and lung and excelling in aspects of clinical achievement, service satisfaction, technology advancement and education and research contribution.

The Game-Changing Zip-less Cardiac Surgery

MICS, also known as zip-less surgery, offers patients numerous benefits. It’s performed through a small incision, between the ribs using endoscopic techniques about 3-7 cm. This approach significantly reduces scarring compared to traditional open-heart surgery, which leaves a noticeable, zip-like scar. Moreover, because it avoids cutting through the chest bone, patients face fewer medical complications and can recover much faster.

Setting New Standards In Cardiac Surgery And Care

These advancements put DSH2’s heart and lung services at the forefront of cardiac care. The hospital is offering minimally invasive surgeries that truly transform the patient experience, empowering them every step of the way. The institution has even established a dedicated support group, fostering a sense of community and support for MICS patients.

DSH2’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. The hospital recently won the “Rising Star Hospital of the Year” award at the 2024 Global Health Asia-Pacific Awards, reflecting its unwavering dedication to clinical excellence. Living up to its tagline “Care for Life”, DSH2 continues to lead the way in medical and technological advancements, ensuring the best possible care for its patients.
