Huawei Malaysia and CelcomDigi have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to grow digital talent across Malaysia’s largest mobile network operator. Under the Huawei CelcomDigi MoU, CelcomDigi employees will get access to advanced training, leadership development and industry-recognised certifications in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, 5G and Cloud technologies.

The Huawei CelcomDigi partnership was announced in Petaling Jaya on 3 November 2026. It adds to Huawei Malaysia’s wider talent push, which includes its recent partnership with UTP to build future-ready talent.

What the Huawei CelcomDigi MoU Covers

Huawei Malaysia will draw on its global learning ecosystem and technology expertise to support CelcomDigi’s workforce over the next three years. The goal is to open up broader opportunities for continuous learning, professional growth and career development across the organisation.

The MoU was formalised by CelcomDigi Chief Executive Officer Albern Murty and Huawei Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Simon Sun. Huawei Asia Pacific President Terry He and CelcomDigi Chief Human Resources Officer Azmi Ujang were also present at the signing ceremony.

As AI and emerging technologies continue to transform industries, organisations must keep evolving their capabilities to stay competitive and deliver greater value to customers. The collaboration supports CelcomDigi’s ambition to build a future-ready workforce that can drive innovation, accelerate transformation and seize new opportunities in an increasingly digital economy.

4 Future Technologies at the Heart of the Programme

The learning pathways are built around four key growth areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data Analytics
  • 5G
  • Cloud technologies

Through the Huawei CelcomDigi programme, employees will gain exposure to emerging technologies, innovation frameworks and industry use cases that support business growth, operational excellence and digital transformation.

They will also have the chance to earn globally recognised Huawei certifications at associate, professional and expert levels.

Simon Sun: “Talent Is the Cornerstone of Digital Transformation”

“Talent is the cornerstone of digital transformation. We are glad to deepen our long-standing partnership with CelcomDigi through this MoU,” said Simon Sun, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia.

He said Huawei Malaysia will draw on its established global learning practices and proven talent development framework to co-design practical, business-aligned learning. This will cover executive digital leadership, business growth enablement, enterprise-wide industrial certification and digital transformation ecosystem development.

“Together, we will translate global best practices into tangible organisational capabilities for CelcomDigi, unlock internal transformation momentum and jointly fuel Malaysia’s sustainable digital development,” he added.

Albern Murty: Learning Faster Than the Pace of Change

“As technology continues to redefine industries, competitive advantage will increasingly be shaped by an organisation’s ability to learn, adapt and innovate faster than the pace of change. Building these capabilities requires sustained investment in people,” said Albern Murty, Chief Executive Officer of CelcomDigi.

“At CelcomDigi, we are building a workforce that can thrive in today’s digital economy while helping shape the opportunities of tomorrow,” he said, adding that the partnership with Huawei Malaysia strengthens leadership, digital fluency and innovation capabilities within the company.

The focus on skills echoes CelcomDigi’s other recent efforts, such as Junior Innovathon 2026, which gave 200 students an early start in AI.

Building on a Long-Standing Huawei CelcomDigi Partnership

The MoU builds on a longstanding collaboration between the two companies. Past initiatives have included leadership programmes, professional certification initiatives, large-scale learning engagements and technology-sharing sessions.

With the Huawei CelcomDigi MoU now in place, both organisations aim to nurture a competitive, future-ready workforce with world-class digital skills, helping to shape tomorrow’s digital services while advancing technological excellence across Malaysia.

CelcomDigi is Malaysia’s largest mobile network operator, with more than 20.3 million users on its network. Huawei, founded in 1987, is a global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, with 207,000 employees in more than 170 countries and regions.
