One of the world’s largest express transportation companies, Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has announced a community-based vegetable farming initiative with Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES) cultivating an urban garden.
This initiative is teamed with the local non-profit organization to provide fresh, healthy food for low-income communities in Malaysia.
A Successful Harvest Through Team Effort
The program, which began on August 18 and runs for four months, has so far harvested approximately 6kg of vegetables. The efforts of 18 FedEx team members have made this possible by planting and maintaining the garden.
Additionally, the team members deliver the harvested vegetables, along with some of their donations, to the beneficiaries. These donations include essential items such as rice, noodles, cooking oil, spices, dental care products, and sanitary pads to ensure a good quality of life for low-income families.
Building Urban Garden for Sustainability
This marks the second consecutive year that FedEx and TrEES have partnered to tackle the growing issue of limited access to fresh, healthy food in urban areas. The initiative not only focuses on cultivating fresh vegetables but also plays a crucial role in revitalizing unused urban spaces.
By transforming these areas into thriving vegetable gardens, the collaboration provides immediate food relief to those in need while also enhancing the local environment. This continued effort underscores the commitment of both FedEx and TrEES to addressing food insecurity and promoting sustainable urban development.
Urban Garden Celebrates Community Spirit
Managing Director of FedEx Malaysia Woon Tien Long, emphasized that access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right. He stated,
Our collaboration with TrEES is a step towards ensuring that communities in need can enjoy the benefits of fresh produce. This initiative not only supports our commitment to sustainability but also strengthens community bonds.

Aligning with FedEx Cares Global Community Engagement
As part of the FedEx Cares global community engagement program, this urban garden embodies the cultural value of “Committing to Do Good.” The 1,000-square-foot community vegetable garden established last year in the Klang Valley has seen over 12 types of vegetables grown and harvested.
FedEx employees are committed to supplying fresh vegetables for beneficiaries and being active in the program through gardening activities.
