CelcomDigi Customer Day 2026 brought more than 2,600 employees out from behind their desks and face to face with customers across Malaysia, all to deliver one simple message: thank you.

The annual initiative is how CelcomDigi Berhad shows its appreciation to more than 20 million customers for their continued trust and support. It is also a chance for employees to hear first-hand about the digital experiences that matter most to the people they serve.

What Is CelcomDigi Customer Day?

Held across key locations nationwide, CelcomDigi Customer Day is a yearly tradition at Malaysia’s largest telecommunications provider. For one day, staff from across the organisation step away from their usual routines to meet customers in person.

The idea is simple. Customer needs keep evolving, and the best way to keep up is to listen to customers directly. By bringing employees closer to the people they serve, the initiative deepens customer understanding across the whole company, not just within customer-facing teams.

More Than 2,600 Employees Turun Padang Nationwide

Malaysians have a phrase for this kind of effort: turun padang, or going down to the ground. This year, more than 2,600 CelcomDigi employees did exactly that.

Dressed in the company’s familiar blue-and-yellow polo shirts, teams met customers at shopping malls, neighbourhood eateries and other everyday spots. Many of the conversations happened around a phone screen, with customers sharing what they need from their digital lives.

How CelcomDigi Customer Day Turns Conversations Into Insights

The value of CelcomDigi Customer Day goes beyond the handshakes and photos. Insights gathered through these direct engagements complement the customer feedback and data that CelcomDigi already collects through other channels.

Together, they give the company a more comprehensive understanding of customer priorities. Numbers can show what customers do, but a real conversation often explains why they do it.

Building a Customer-Obsessed Culture

Customer Day is part of CelcomDigi’s broader effort to build a customer-obsessed culture across the organisation. The thinking is that great customer experience should not sit with one department alone.

When employees from every function hear directly from customers, everyone gains a clearer sense of who they are working for. This reinforces a culture where every employee plays a role in delivering better experiences.

“Customers Are the Lifeblood of Our Network”

For CelcomDigi Chief Executive Officer Albern Murty, the day carries special meaning.

“Customer Day is one of the most meaningful traditions at CelcomDigi because it gives us the opportunity to personally thank our customers. As Malaysia’s largest telecommunications provider, we recognise the responsibility that comes with keeping Malaysians connected and delivering experiences they can rely on,” he said.

Albern added that on this day, the entire workforce comes together to turun padang and listen to customers, whose voices remind the team “that behind every connection is a customer with unique needs, expectations and aspirations.”

“These engagements help us improve our products and services, while reinforcing a customer-first culture, as customers are the lifeblood of our network,” he said.

Why CelcomDigi Customer Day Matters to Malaysians

With more than 20.3 million users on its network and over 3,800 industry experts behind its operations, CelcomDigi plays a big part in how Malaysians stay connected for work, study, business and family. That scale shows in its recent efforts, from monsoon preparedness support for communities to network upgrades ahead of major events. Its stated ambitions include advancing the nation, inspiring Malaysian society and leading in inclusion and ESG practices.

CelcomDigi Customer Day is a reminder that behind those numbers are real people. By listening to them in person, the company aims to keep improving its products and services and to keep earning the trust of the customers it thanks each year.
