Adventurers who are tired of hunting for a power point, take note. The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar arrives in Malaysia on 23 October 2026 at RM2,799, and it is the world’s first AMOLED smartwatch with a dual-sided solar charging system.

Announced in Kuala Lumpur by Amazfit, the smart wearable brand owned by Zepp Health, this premium expedition watch is built for long-distance and multi-day exploration. It pairs a bright, full-colour display with solar energy recovery that keeps you going when a charger is nowhere in sight.

What Makes the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar Different

Outdoor watches usually force a trade-off between a vivid screen for daily wear and the stamina needed on the trail. The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar brings AMOLED and solar together for the first time, offering up to 25 days of typical battery life before solar top-ups even come into play.

“Outdoor watches have to work just as well in everyday life as they do when you’re miles from a power source,” said Sara Webster Wylie, VP of Global Marketing at Amazfit. “With T-Rex Dual Solar, we didn’t want users to have to choose between the bright, premium display they want every day and the battery endurance they need outdoors.”

Dual-Sided Solar Charging, Explained

The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar collects sunlight from two surfaces, each designed for a different moment of your adventure:

  • Front solar: Charges the watch while you wear it in sufficient sunlight. In Amazfit’s typical-use testing, three hours of daily exposure at 50,000 lux extends battery life from up to 25 days to up to 34 days.
  • Rear solar: A glass-ceramic back plate with twice the collection area of the front panel, so placing the watch in the sun off-wrist gathers significantly more energy.
  • Solar Priority Mode: Switches the watch into an ultra-low-power state to maximise off-wrist solar recovery.

For those exploring at the edge of the map, this means a completely drained watch can be brought back to life with sunlight alone, restoring access to essentials like maps and route information.

A Safety Net Beyond the Grid

Alpinist and Amazfit athlete Jost Kobusch sees solar as a genuine backup rather than a convenience. “In the mountains, navigation is one of the most important safety tools you have,” he said. “If I can rely on sunlight to keep my watch alive, I may not need to carry an additional power bank just for navigation. That saves weight and complexity.”

When every bit of power counts, Outdoor Extreme battery mode cuts consumption while keeping GPS track points and other essential outdoor functions active. The new Expedition activity mode builds on this low-power setting to support multi-day trips away from a charger.

Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar Specs: Built for the Extreme

Premium materials meet tough engineering for unpredictable conditions:

  • Grade 5 titanium bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal
  • 1.32-inch AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits peak brightness for clear maps outdoors
  • 10 ATM water resistance and recreational diving support to 50 metres
  • Built-in flashlight with a red light option that helps preserve night vision
  • 660 mAh battery with up to 25 days of typical use and up to 41 hours in Accuracy GPS Mode

Advanced Offline Navigation on Your Wrist

Navigation is where the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar earns its expedition credentials:

  • Full-colour preloaded maps with expanded road networks, plus downloadable contour and ski maps
  • Intelligent route planning, turn-by-turn navigation, advanced waypoint navigation and POI display
  • Navigation Gradient Curve, a colour-coded elevation profile showing upcoming climbs and descents at a glance
  • LiveShare, which shares your real-time location, heading and key activity data with friends, family or teammates

Training, recovery and outdoor data all come together in the Zepp App, which delivers personalised insights with no subscription required.
