The technology that brings video game characters to life is coming home. i-City and TwinMatrix Technologies are teaming up to bring NVIDIA-powered AI to i-Ris, the AI Companion for AI Living @ i-City in Shah Alam.
Announced on 30 October 2026, the collaboration will see TwinMatrix develop i-Ris using NVIDIA’s digital-human and accelerated computing technologies, together with its own expertise in spatial AI, digital twins and intelligent systems integration.
The aim is to use NVIDIA-powered AI to move beyond the conventional smart home towards a living environment that understands residents’ needs, anticipates their preferences and helps coordinate everyday activities.

Why i-City Is Betting on NVIDIA-Powered AI
NVIDIA, a global leader in graphics processing and AI computing, has extended technologies once associated with gaming into digital humans capable of natural conversation and lifelike interaction.
i-Ris will use this NVIDIA-powered AI in two complementary ways. NVIDIA ACE will create a lifelike digital avatar for residents to talk to, while NVIDIA GPU computing will provide the processing power behind the intelligence connecting AI Living’s technology ecosystems.
Leading the development is Eric Liu, Founder and CEO of TwinMatrix Technologies, who brings experience from his previous tenure at NVIDIA.
“Our vision is to make AI Living more than a collection of smart devices. We want to create an intelligent environment where residents can interact naturally with their homes, while the underlying systems work together to support their everyday needs,” said Liu.
4 Ways i-Ris Will Transform Home Living
1. A Lifelike Companion You Can Talk To
TwinMatrix, an NVIDIA Inception company, will use NVIDIA ACE to build i-Ris’s digital avatar. ACE combines conversational AI with lifelike visuals, giving residents a natural, conversational interface to their homes.
i-Ris is envisaged as a personal assistant that learns residents’ preferences, helps organise schedules, provides interactive education and information, and supports everyday activities.

2. One Companion Instead of Many Apps
Behind the avatar, the NVIDIA-powered AI is intended to bring together domestic robotics from AgiBot, wellness and wearable technologies involving Garmin, lifestyle products, building systems and trusted knowledge services.
Residents could eventually ask i-Ris to arrange household help from a robot, adjust their home environment or share personalised wellness information based on authorised wearable data. Instead of juggling multiple apps, they would deal with a single AI Companion.
3. A Home That Understands Its Own Space
TwinMatrix’s spatial AI and digital twin capabilities will help i-Ris’s NVIDIA-powered AI understand not only individual commands, but also the physical environment residents live in.
The Singapore-based company’s SpatialVerse platform is deployed at Singapore Changi Airport, and it has supported digital twin initiatives at Resorts World Sentosa and Dubai’s Index Tower.
4. Built to Grow Step by Step
i-Ris will be developed progressively, starting with conversational interaction and resident services before expanding into deeper integration with robotics, wellness and smart-home platforms.
It will serve the approximately 500-unit AI Living development, designed from the outset for AI, domestic robotics and connected services, and targeted for completion in 2030.
Building for the AI and Robotics Era
For Dato’ Eu Hong Chew, Director of i-City, i-Ris marks a fundamental distinction between AI Living and conventional developments.
“A conventional development allows residents to control connected devices. AI Living goes further by bringing together robotics, wellness, smart-home systems and other services through i-Ris that understands and responds to residents’ needs,” he said.
“The avatar is the face residents communicate with. Behind it is the intelligence that brings the different technologies together. Our vision is a home that understands you, rather than one where you have to learn how to operate the technology.”
AI Living is part of i-City’s ambition to evolve from Malaysia’s established digital city into an AI- and robotics-enabled township. In time, the NVIDIA-powered AI behind i-Ris could support wider applications across i-City’s buildings and township services.
