As the annual monsoon season approaches, CelcomDigi monsoon preparedness efforts are stepping up to help Malaysians stay safe and connected. CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) announced on 15 October 2026 that it is working with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) and the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) to deliver emergency connectivity, humanitarian aid and on-ground relief support in critical flood-prone locations across the country.

The goal is simple. When floodwaters rise, families should still be able to reach their loved ones, get reliable information and receive help quickly.

Relief for 42,000 People Across 6 Flood-Prone States

The initiative is expected to provide relief for more than 3,400 households, with capacity for on-ground support for approximately 42,000 people. Support will focus on six states that are frequently affected during the monsoon:

  • Kedah
  • Kelantan
  • Terengganu
  • Johor
  • Pahang
  • Sabah

CelcomDigi will provide emergency connectivity at various temporary evacuation centres, known as Pusat Pemindahan Sementara (PPS), alongside humanitarian assistance for affected communities.

What CelcomDigi Has Provided to MRA

Getting aid to flood victims often means navigating cut-off roads, rising water and power outages. As part of its CelcomDigi monsoon preparedness plan, the company has contributed the following to strengthen MRA’s ability to respond on the ground:

  • Four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles to reach affected areas
  • Rescue boats for flooded locations
  • Mobile charging stations so victims can keep their phones powered
  • Water and jet pumps for clean-up efforts
  • Generators to support operations during power disruptions
  • Volunteers to help on the ground

Together, these resources help relief teams move faster and serve more families when every hour counts.

4 Ways CelcomDigi Monsoon Preparedness Keeps Communities Connected

1. Emergency Connectivity at 15 Evacuation Centres

Fifteen PPS in high-risk areas will be equipped with Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) units. This helps affected families stay in touch and access important information or communication services during the emergency.

2. Elevated Network Structures

Key network structures in flood-prone areas are being elevated to better protect critical radio and electronic equipment from water damage.

3. Round-the-Clock Standby Teams

Operations teams remain on standby 24 hours a day to deploy power generators and other resources to affected sites, helping to minimise disruptions to network services.

4. Timely Information With NADMA

CelcomDigi is working with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and relevant authorities to share timely information with communities in high-risk areas.

Prepare Early With the Flood Preparedness Kit

Beyond its flood response, CelcomDigi is also encouraging Malaysians in flood-prone areas to get ready before the rain arrives. Its Flood Preparedness Kit offers practical guidance and essential information to help people respond effectively during flood-related emergencies.

The kit is available via the CelcomDigi App and CelcomDigi’s social media platforms. You can download it in English or Bahasa Malaysia.

A few simple habits can also make a big difference this season:

  • Keep your phone and power bank fully charged
  • Save emergency contact numbers in advance
  • Follow official updates from NADMA and local authorities
  • Pack important documents in a waterproof bag

Why Staying Connected Matters During Floods

During a disaster, a working phone line can be a lifeline. It helps families confirm that loved ones are safe, lets victims call for assistance and allows relief teams to coordinate aid. This CelcomDigi monsoon preparedness focus on network resilience builds on CelcomDigi’s earlier work to strengthen its network ahead of the World Cup 2026.

It also reflects a growing push across Malaysia to build stronger, more prepared communities, similar to how Kuala Lumpur launched community resilience plans to fight climate change.

With CelcomDigi monsoon preparedness efforts, relief agencies and volunteers working hand in hand, Malaysians can face the monsoon season with greater confidence and peace of mind.
