Suria KLCC is launching the #BeKindOnline campaign from 10 to 20 October, continuing its dedication to mental health advocacy. This initiative aims to address the growing issue of cyberbullying in Malaysia and its significant impact on mental well-being. Through addressing cyberbullying, Suria KLCC hopes to promote safer, more positive online spaces.
The Minister of Communications YB Fahmi Fadzil kicked off the campaign today with a podcast session. He discussed government regulations and social media policies designed to combat cyberbullying.
Collaborations for Mental Health Support
This year, Suria KLCC continues partnerships with several prominent mental health organizations. The organizations are Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA), Befrienders KL, Mental Illness Awareness Support Association (MIASA), and Nyawa. New to the initiative this year is Taylor’s University’s Mental Health and Well-being Impact Lab, which will provide expertise through podcasts and consultations.

Raising Awareness in the Digital Space
Focusing on digital outreach, the #BeKindOnline campaign will feature influencers and notable personalities. They will create engaging content on social media. Furthermore, they will share personal stories, expert advice, and effective strategies to combat cyberbullying in Malaysia. The campaign will utilize bite-sized videos, podcast snippets, and online discussions to maximize its reach across various media platforms.
Interactive Experience at Suria KLCC
While much of the campaign will unfold online, visitors to Suria KLCC can explore a physical centerpiece, Multifunctional Safe Space. This unique centerpiece is found at the Park Mall entrance. This interactive area hosts live podcast recordings and consultations with mental health professionals. Visitors will be equipped with practical tools and guidance for dealing with cyberbullying.
- Live Chats: The space will feature live discussions with experts from NGOs, influencers, and cyberbullying survivors. YB Fahmi’s talk on regulations will also be streamed on social media.
- Consultation Services: Visitors can access free clinics, workshops, and expert advice from mental health professionals from partner NGOs. They will learn strategies to cope with online harassment and its mental health effects.
Additionally, there will be an interactive digital kindness wall where visitors can select uplifting messages. These positive affirmations will help promote a supportive online environment. After engaging with the wall, visitors can take a photo of their chosen message and share it on Instagram, joining the #BeKindOnline movement.
A Commitment to Change
The CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, Francis Tan highlighted the campaign’s significance:
In this digital age, our words hold unprecedented power. They can uplift, or they can wound deeply. #BeKindOnline goes beyond just creating mere awareness; Suria KLCC aims to offer tangible solutions and support for those impacted by cyberbullying, ensuring no one faces this challenge alone.

Pushing Digital Safety To Prevent Cyberbullying In Malaysia
As Malaysia’s digital economy flourishes, the increasing prevalence of cyberbullying must be addressed with urgency. Both the government and non-governmental organizations need to collaborate in raising awareness about cyberbullying and implementing protective measures through effective regulations and social media policies.
Social media plays a significant role in our daily lives, making it particularly concerning for children who are vulnerable to online harassment. The #BeKindOnline campaign is a vital initiative that encourages individuals to educate themselves and foster meaningful conversations about digital safety with their families and friends.
