This day commemorates the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and highlights the postal sector’s crucial role in global connectivity and economic growth in Malaysia.

The theme for this year’s World Post Day was “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations.” The local celebration at Pos Malaysia’s headquarters featured a new short film showcasing the company’s remarkable transformation.
The Chairman of Pos Malaysia, Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar emphasized the company’s expanded services, stating:
This short film not only pays homage to Pos Malaysia’s rich and long-standing heritage in the country but more importantly it signifies our commitment to continuously meeting the changing needs of the people of Malaysia in this digital age. Today, Pos Malaysia no longer just delivers mail and parcels; we now offer a variety of innovative products and services, ranging from end-to-end logistics, and aviation (ground handling), to retail and digital solutions. We have come a long way in our purpose of connecting people and businesses for a better tomorrow.

Malaysia’s Backbone Of Trade And Economic Development
The celebration included an award ceremony honoring 16 employees with over 35 years at Pos Malaysia. YB Fahmi commended the company for its significant contributions to Malaysia’s trade and economy.
It achieved a 4-star rating from the MyKurier program and recognition as the fastest and most reliable courier service by the MCMC Star Rating Awards 2023.
Moreover, YB Fahmi praised the team’s overall dedication. He stated that postal services play a crucial role in economic growth, trade facilitation, and community connection, even in our digital age. YB Fahmi spoke,

Pos Malaysia’s Commitment To Sustainability
The event concluded with the launch of Pos Malaysia’s new electric vehicle (EV) fleet by YB Fahmi and other guests. This initiative showcases the company’s commitment to sustainability.
With 200 electric motorcycles and 143 electric vans, they cover an impressive 2.8 million kilometers. This is equivalent to 71 trips around the Earth. As stated by Tan Sri Syed Faisal,
As a progressive organisation in championing sustainability for both Malaysia and the logistics sector, we are proud of the progress we have made thus far in our sustainability roadmap launched last year.

Moreover, Tan Sri Syed Faisal noted the goal of achieving 100% green delivery for first and last-mile logistics by 2030. This long-term plan can set a strong example of environmental responsibility for all organizations.

During the event, Pos Malaysia also unveiled a set of specially designed commemorative stamps launched in conjunction with World Post Day. Priced at RM50.50 each, this limited edition is up for grabs from 16 October until 31 December. They will be available at all of Pos Malaysia’s Philatelic Bureaus, including 13 General Post Offices.
