The Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF) Biz Day 2024 showcased Southeast Asia’s vibrant digital creative talent. This successful event brought together leaders in animation, digital games, XR, the metaverse, and creative technology. Over three exciting days from 1 to 3 October 2024, attendees participated in workshops, business meetings, and networking opportunities. The event highlighted Malaysia’s growing role as a digital creative hub in the region.
Malaysia’s Ambition To Become A Leading Regional Digital Creative Hub
The event was officiated by YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, and YB Tuan Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, Chairman of MDEC, and underscored Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading regional digital creative hub by 2030.
MYDCF Biz Day 2024 was a resounding success, attracting over 1,000 participants from all over the world. This includes Malaysia, South Korea, India, China, Japan, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines attended. With more than 100 speakers, MYDCF Biz Day 2024 garnered attention from North America, Europe, Australia, and the region.
MYDCF Biz Day 2024’s Highlight: SEA Awards 2024
One of the highlights of MYDCF Biz Day 2024 was the SEA Awards 2024. It was a prestigious event that recognized the best digital content creators across Southeast Asia. The award celebrated excellence in animation, digital content, and gaming, showcasing the immense potential of the region’s digital creative industries.
The SEA Awards 2024 received over 300 submissions from more than 10 countries, demonstrating Southeast Asia’s rich digital creative talent. This event provided a platform for creators to gain international recognition, solidifying Malaysia’s leadership in the sector.
The SEA Awards 2024
The SEA Awards 2024 encompassed three key categories:
- SEA Game Awards: With over 107 submissions from over 10 countries, the SEA Game Awards will honor the best in Southeast Asian gaming across 13 awards. One of the standout winners was Toge Productions from Indonesia, securing two awards; Best Audio Design and Best Game Design.
- SEA Kre8tif! Awards: The category received 147 regional submissions, with nine awards celebrating achievements in animation and creative content. Notable winners included Rawr Pictures, whose project The Muralz—Year of the Flying Dragon, swept multiple categories including Best Audio Design and Best Animation Motion Graphics.
- 26th DigiCon6 Asia Malaysia Circuit: This year’s competition received 49 submissions, with three awards recognizing Malaysian creators for their exceptional storytelling and creativity.
With 31 winners across these categories, the SEA Awards 2024, part of MYDCF, showcased the incredible digital artistry thriving in Southeast Asia. Indeed, MDEC and its partners are committed to fostering innovation. As a result, Malaysia is set to be a driving force in the region’s digital creative landscape.
