Good news for all; Children below 12 can now finally watch their favourite movies in cinemas in Malaysia! Effective 4th December, parents can now bring along their children to cinemas as long as they follow the regulated SOPs. According to GSC, the parents or guardians have to be fully vaccinated.
GSC stated that the new SOP is only for Phase 4 states based on the National Recovery Plan (Except for Sarawak). Visitors can purchase snacks and drinks at the counter. However, pre-ordering them online on their website or app is highly recommended.
TGV also implied that they are welcoming kids below 12 starting the 4th of December. Movie-goers have to abide by the existing SOPs which includes wearing a face mask at all times and following the social distancing requirements.

In September, the government announced that cinemas in Malaysia were allowed to resume operations. Only to fully vaccinated adults aged from 18 years old and above. Afterwards in October, the restrictions were lifted for fully vaccinated teenagers aged between 12 years old to 17 years old.
This applies to states categorized in Phase 4
However, children under 12 can only go to the cinemas if they are in the Phase 4 states. According to the National Recovery Plan’s website, all states except for Kelantan and Sarawak are in Phase 4.
