Malaysia’s appetite for live Asian entertainment was on display as IDOL RADIO LIVE Kuala Lumpur brought K-pop acts WHIB, 82MAJOR and KISS OF LIFE together for a night of music and fan interaction.
Held at Inspire Live Arena on October 3, the show also featured Malaysian singer Ismail Izzani as a special guest. Beyond the performances, the event showed how Kuala Lumpur continues to attract regional entertainment productions and international artists.
WHIB Makes Its First Malaysian Appearance
For WHIB, the Kuala Lumpur stop marked the group’s first visit to Malaysia since its debut in 2023.
Six members performed at the event, with HASEUNG absent due to health reasons. The group presented tracks including “WHO’S THE NEXT”, “ROCK THE NATION”, “ELEVATE” and debut song “BANG!”.
The visit also gave WHIB its first opportunity to meet Malaysian fans, known as AnD. During their interaction with the audience, member UGeon shared his interest in trying Malaysian food, including satay.
It was a simple exchange, but one that reflected the cultural connection often created around international live events. Music may bring audiences into the venue, while local food, language and fan culture become part of the wider experience.

82MAJOR Strengthens Its Connection With Malaysian Fans
82MAJOR’s appearance was more familiar. The group returned to Malaysia only five months after its previous visit.
The six members made an effort to communicate in Malay, drawing an enthusiastic response from the crowd. Leader Cho Seong-il opened with “Apa khabar, Malaysia?”, while Yoon Ye-chan later declared, “Malaysia mantap! 82DE mantap! IDOL RADIO mantap!”
Nam Seong-mo also encouraged the audience with the Malay phrase “Jerit kuat-kuat”.
Musically, the group performed “TROPHY”, “TAKEOVER” and “Like Fire”, which was released in September. They ended their segment with another local touch, telling fans “Sayang korang” and “Jumpa lagi”.
Such interactions have become an important part of K-pop’s international reach. Local language and cultural references can turn a touring performance into a more personal experience for fans.

KISS OF LIFE Returns to Kuala Lumpur
KISS OF LIFE made its second Malaysian appearance after visiting the country during its first world tour in April 2025.
JULIE and BELLE served as special MCs during the evening and performed a duet of “Kiss Me More”. The four-member group later returned for the finale with songs including “SWEAT”, “Igloo”, “Lips Hips Kiss” and “Sticky”.
The response led JULIE to say the atmosphere felt similar to one of the group’s own concerts. HANEUL also expressed hope that KISS OF LIFE would return to Malaysia again.
Repeat visits by international performers can help strengthen Kuala Lumpur’s position within regional touring schedules. They also support a wider live-event ecosystem involving venues, production crews, promoters, transport, hospitality and other services.

Ismail Izzani Adds a Malaysian Presence
The programme also gave local talent a place alongside the visiting Korean acts.
Malaysian singer Ismail Izzani performed “Luar Biasa”, “One On One” and “Bidadar”. He also spoke about South Korean group ZEROBASEONE previously covering one of his songs during its Malaysian concert, describing the experience as an honour.
Ismail later performed a short section of Taeyang’s “Eyes, Nose, Lips” in Korean.
His participation added a useful cross-cultural element to the event. International shows can provide Malaysian performers with opportunities to reach audiences who may follow both local and regional Asian music.
Live Entertainment Creates Value Beyond the Stage
The significance of IDOL RADIO LIVE Kuala Lumpur goes beyond one concert.
International entertainment events can contribute to activity across several parts of the urban economy. Fans spend on transport, dining and other services around an event, while organisers depend on local venues, technical teams and suppliers.
For Malaysia, the steady arrival and return of Asian performers can also strengthen Kuala Lumpur’s profile as a regional entertainment destination.
The deeper opportunity is in building an ecosystem where international productions, Malaysian talent and local businesses can benefit from the same growth in audience demand.
Conclusion
IDOL RADIO LIVE brought together three K-pop groups and a Malaysian artist, but its wider value came from the connections formed around the event.
As Asian entertainment becomes increasingly regional, Malaysia has an opportunity to play a larger role as a destination for touring artists and live productions. Strong fan communities, local talent and supporting industries could all benefit as that market develops.
