KUALA LUMPUR, 30 JULY 2024 – Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to launch a sponsorship programme aimed at financially supporting deserving and eligible Malaysian students pursuing higher education at the university.
Under the MoA, Huawei Malaysia will commit to sponsor six students, providing each individual student with financial support to cover their tuition fees for the year. This will apply retrospectively to the first semester fees if the sponsored student has already proceeded to the second semester.
The programme is open to Malaysian citizens enrolled in their second to fourth year of studies at UTM with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.20.

Priority given to Huawei Certified and Other Huawei Programme students
Students who possess the Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), Huawei Certified ICT Professional (HCIP), or Huawei Certified ICT Expert (HCIE) certification will have an advantage during the selection process for the sponsorship programme. Those selected for the Huawei Seeds for the Future programme, Huawei Sales Elite Challenge, and other Huawei training programmes will also be given priority during the selection.
Upon graduation, sponsored students will have the choice of embarking on a rewarding career with Huawei, committing to a minimum of two years of service.

Huawei Malaysia Active in Talent Development
In addition to the sponsorship programme, Huawei Malaysia has been actively involved in various talent development initiatives, including the establishment of Huawei ICT Academies in various public and private universities nationwide to assist in the cultivation of high calibre ICT professionals.
Since 2021, Huawei Malaysia has produced 54,000 talents through the Huawei ASEAN Academy and has exceeded its target of producing 50,000 digital talents in Malaysia by 2025.
