Malaysia’s motorcycle market is getting a new trade-in option as Boon Siew Honda and iMotorbike join forces to help riders move from their existing motorcycles to new Honda models.

The Boon Siew Honda iMotorbike partnership, formalised on 8 October 2026, aims to make motorcycle trade-ins more organised and accessible. It also brings Malaysia’s new and pre-owned motorcycle markets closer together.

The agreement was signed at Boon Siew Honda’s Sales Headquarters in Kota Damansara, Selangor.

Making Motorcycle Trade-Ins More Convenient

For many Malaysians, motorcycles are an important part of everyday transport. They help people travel to work, manage daily errands and move around areas where public transport may be limited.

As riders’ needs change, some may consider upgrading to a newer model. Selling an existing motorcycle, however, can involve finding a buyer, arranging an inspection and agreeing on a suitable price.

The collaboration offers another route.

Through participating Honda dealers, customers interested in purchasing a new Honda motorcycle can explore trading in their current bike with iMotorbike.

The arrangement combines Honda’s established dealer network with iMotorbike’s experience in motorcycle inspections, valuations and pre-owned sales.

How the Honda and iMotorbike Trade-In Process Works

Under the agreement, iMotorbike will manage the trade-in process directly with customers. The purchase of a new Honda motorcycle will take place separately through a participating Honda dealer.

This distinction allows both companies to focus on their respective areas of expertise.

Customers can access iMotorbike’s inspection services through its network of more than 21 locations across Peninsular Malaysia.

The wider inspection network could make the process more convenient for riders who want to understand their motorcycle’s resale value before purchasing another bike.

For participating dealers, the collaboration also creates a clearer connection between customers looking to sell their existing motorcycles and those planning their next purchase.

Supporting Malaysia’s Pre-Owned Motorcycle Market

The used motorcycle market plays an important role in making two-wheeled transport accessible to different groups of consumers.

Not every rider needs or can afford a brand-new motorcycle. Pre-owned options can offer a more affordable entry point, particularly for first-time buyers and people seeking practical daily transport.

However, confidence in a used motorcycle’s condition remains an important consideration.

iMotorbike operates a platform for buying and selling pre-owned motorcycles in Malaysia and Vietnam. Its existing services include a 170-point motorcycle inspection, alongside selected after-sales support and ownership services.

By connecting this experience with Honda’s dealer network, the partnership may help make the transition between used and new motorcycles more structured.

It also reflects a wider opportunity for Malaysia’s automotive sector to strengthen services beyond the initial vehicle purchase.

A More Complete Motorcycle Ownership Journey

Kunitomo Asano, Managing Director and CEO of Boon Siew Honda, said the agreement recognises that customers’ motorcycle needs change over time.

“Riders move through different stages of their lives, and their motorcycle preference may change over time.”

He explained that working with iMotorbike would help provide a more organised transition for riders while involving Honda dealers in the process.

Gil Carmo, Co-Founder and CEO of iMotorbike, also highlighted the importance of making trade-ins a more natural part of motorcycle ownership.

According to Carmo, combining iMotorbike’s inspection, valuation and resale experience with Honda’s dealer network can help riders make more informed decisions when upgrading.

What This Means for Malaysian Riders

The Boon Siew Honda iMotorbike partnership could benefit customers in several practical ways.

A more accessible inspection network may reduce the effort involved in arranging a motorcycle trade-in. Professional valuations can also give riders a clearer starting point when considering their next purchase.

For the industry, closer cooperation between new motorcycle dealers and pre-owned specialists could encourage a more connected ownership experience.

This is particularly relevant in Malaysia, where motorcycles remain a practical transport choice for many households and working adults.

Looking Ahead

The collaboration marks another step towards connecting Malaysia’s new and used motorcycle markets.

Its long-term impact will depend on how smoothly the trade-in process works for customers and how widely participating dealers adopt the arrangement.

For now, riders interested in exploring the service can contact participating Honda BigWing, Honda Impian X or iMotorbike dealerships for further information.

As the motorcycle market develops, services that make buying, selling and upgrading easier could become an increasingly important part of the ownership experience.
