About 40,000 years ago, the oldest modern human remains in Southeast Asia and numerous other artefacts of prehistoric man were discovered in the park, making it one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.

3. Kubah National Park
Kubah’s treks and forest walks span the spectrum from easy to strenuous. The Park Headquarters is located on the paved Gunung Serapi Road, which provides access to the jungle trails that wind their way up to the telecommunications tower at the peak of Gunung Serapi. There are no cars allowed on this road, but hikers can use it to go to the top of Gunung Serapi or to get to the Waterfall and Rayu paths quickly.
Locals recommend taking a break from your forest adventure at one of the many waterfalls or swimming in one of the crystal clear streams.
If you want to see everything this fascinating park has to offer, staying here for at least one night is essential. While there isn’t a cafeteria or catering service, guests do have access to kitchenware for making simple meals.

1. The Brooke Gallery at Fort Margherita
One of the greatest dynasties in history, that of Sarawak and its “White Rajahs,” is chronicled in the Brooke Gallery. The displays highlight the significant individuals, locations, and historical events that have left their mark on the state. They take us back in time one hundred years to when Sarawak was ruled by the “White Rajah” (beginning in September 1841) until it was annexed by the British in July 1946.

2. Kuching Cat Museum
The Kuching Cat Museum is the first museum of its kind in the world. Ground level of the somewhat alien-looking Kuching North City Hall Headquarters Building. Among the museum’s 2,000 cat-related objects are a mummified Egyptian cat and some rather peculiar cat gravestones. If you’re in Kuching, the “City of Cats,” and you adore cats, you have to go here.

Exploring The Wildlife
1. Semenggoh Nature Reserve
One of the best attractions in Sarawak is not complete without listing its beautiful wildlife centres. A natural habitat for Orang Utans can be found just 20 kilometres south of Kuching. By a wide margin, Sarawak’s largest orangutan rehabilitation facility is located in the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre of the Semenggoh Nature Reserve.
Orang Utans aren’t the only endangered species that call Semenggoh Natural Reserve home; the reserve is also a heaven for the gigantic squirrel, pigmy squirrel, gibbons, and a spectacular array of birds. The nature reserve is a great spot for those who enjoy listening to wildlife, as it is home to a variety of different species of birds, insects, and even Orang Utans wailing and chirping.
