Mesra Run 2.0 drew 2,000 participants to Mesra Mall in Kemasik, Kemaman, on Saturday, 10 October 2026, doubling the roughly 1,000 runners who joined the inaugural edition last year. Held in conjunction with the Terengganu state-level Hari Sukan Negara (HSN) 2026 celebrations, the run was organised in collaboration with Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Negeri Terengganu (JBSNT).
It was the highlight of a three-day programme at the mall from 8 to 10 October, bringing together families, young athletes, senior citizens and persons with disabilities for a celebration of active living and mental wellbeing.
Mesra Run 2.0 Flag-Off and Guests of Honour
The run was flagged off by Francis Tan, Executive Director and CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, which manages Mesra Mall; Cik Aziam Muhammad, General Manager of Mesra Mall; and Tuan Haji Asmadi bin Mohamad, Director of JBSNT.
Hari Sukan Negara 2026 at the Terengganu level was officiated by Datuk Abdul Kahar Abdul Latif, Director of Federal Development, Terengganu.

Three Categories, One Packed Start Line
A total of 1,455 participants took part in the 5KM Fun Run, while 545 joined the 10KM category. A 3KM Berjalan Ria Madani family walk completed the line-up. Last year’s edition offered only a 5KM fun run, so the expanded format gave people of different fitness levels more ways to take part.
Route Shortened as a Haze Precaution
Because of hazy conditions on race day, organisers shortened the route to reduce health risks from poor air quality. The 10KM category was run over 5KM, with prizes unchanged.
“Thankfully, the change did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd, which packed the entire outdoor area of Mesra Mall.”
Cik Aziam Muhammad, General Manager, Mesra Mall

Mesra Run 2.0 Supports Mental Health Awareness
Cik Aziam said the response from participants, supporters and the Terengganu Youth and Sports Department had been encouraging.
“The Mesra Run 2.0 event is also a continuation of our mental health awareness campaign, which emphasises the importance of physical health as one of the factors supporting mental wellbeing,” she said.
She added that the event is part of Mesra Mall’s efforts to position itself not only as a shopping destination, but also as a community hub offering space for leisure and recreational activities for families.
14 More Sporting Events Over Three Days
Beyond the run, the three-day programme featured recreational and competitive sports as well as e-sports. “This year, 14 other sporting events, such as archery and badminton, are being held as part of Mesra Run to encourage more people to adopt an active lifestyle,” Cik Aziam said.
The line-up included:
- A pushbike race for children aged three to seven
- Netball, woodball, football and badminton
- Archery, darts, chess and bidas
- Tenpin bowling and drone sports training
- A children’s colouring contest
- Sports Carnival Inspire OKU Active for persons with disabilities
An Inclusive Hari Sukan Negara 2026
In his speech, Datuk Abdul Kahar said the event aimed to encourage people in the state to make sports and fitness part of their daily lives. “We want participation in sports to keep growing and active lifestyles to be sustained at all times,” he said.
Themed “Sports and Artificial Intelligence Technology”, HSN 2026 also emphasises more inclusive public participation, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities. In that spirit, Mesra Run 2.0 welcomed children, the elderly and persons with disabilities, with competitions for every age group and exhibitions raising awareness of sports, mental health and healthy living.
“Mesra Run is part of the national agenda, and hosting it at Mesra Mall brings people together to shop, spend time with one another and be part of a three-day celebration, which also contributes to the economy of Terengganu as a whole. We made sure everyone has a place in it, from children and the elderly to persons with disabilities, because we want to promote a healthy body and a healthy mind for the whole community.”
