Chan Su Ling, a Malaysian voice actress will be the first from the country to voice an American dub of a major anime for Funimation!
Funimation is a major entertainment company that specialises in dubbing and distributing media from East Asia, most notable for Japanese anime.
On 17 October 2021, The Magic Rain reported that Chan is set to voice a few characters in Funimation’s upcoming English dub of Kageki Shojo!!. The anime is a 13-episodes adaptation of a manga, which has a 7.85 rating on My Anime List.
According to kakuchopurei.com, the Malaysian voice actress will play Akiya Shirakawa’s mom as well as various students in episodes 7 and 10 in the show.
Chan’s participation in the production crowns her the first-ever Malaysian to voice in an American dub for Funimation.
In an interview with The Magic Rain via Twitch, Chan explained that she was cast through Sound Cadence, a studio that Funimation outsourced for this production.
Earlier, Chan has also shared the announcement of her voice debut in the American dub on her Twitter..

Chan has extensive experience in voicing animations as well as video games. According to her website, she is the voice of Ying and Kikita from BoBoiBoy, Ms Dira from Rimba Racer, among others.
Moreover, she has also voiced several commercials in Malaysia for brands such as Maxis, Johnson’s Baby, Samsung, KFC, Suria KLCC, and many more!

Meanwhile, the English dub of Kageki Shoujo!! is now available on Funimation. However, Malaysians will need to use VPN-related means to watch it.
