Yesterday, Melaka was reported to postpone the reopening of its tourism until 90% of the Malaysian adult population has been fully vaccinated. They are not welcoming tourists by then.
Earlier this week, Melaka, Genting Highlands and Tioman Island have been proposed as the next locations for the travel bubble by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. These locations are allowed to open their doors starting from 1st October.

Despite being given the green light to open its door, Sulaiman rejected the opening of Melaka yesterday at the Melaka state assembly sitting. The state is taking safety measures and decides to wait until the 90% adult vaccination rate is achieved before moving on.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has agreed to allow interstate travel and tourism activities when 90% of the country’s adult population has been vaccinated.
He said the target could be achieved in two to three weeks, which could mean that it will not take long until Melaka welcomes tourists again.
As of yesterday (23rd September), 82.2% of Malaysian adults have been fully vaccinated.
