Porsche AG will partner with Sime Darby Bhd to set up its first assembly plant outside of Europe in Malaysia. The assembly of Porsche sports cars by Sime Darby is also specifically for the Malaysian market only. 

For the last 11 years, Sime Darby Motors has been a partner of choice for Porsche in Malaysia. In addition, it has been representing Porsche as an exclusive distributor and retailer for the brand. 

This partnership with Porsche marks a coming of age of our relationship with the brand. Meanwhile, Detlev von Platen, member of the executive board for sales and marketing at Porsche AG said Malaysia and the whole ASEAN is a region of great potential

“As Porsche is moving into a new era of mobility, Malaysia and the ASEAN region are gaining an increasing importance. This step now is part of a long-standing initiative to keep pace with rapidly evolving customer and market demands,” von Platen said.

Ensuring quality

Meanwhile, according to Dato’ Jeffri, every Porsche assembled by Sime Darby will go through the same rigorous standards and processes as its European counterparts. The Porsche assembly plant in Malaysia will keep up with the brand’s standard. Thus, the two automotive leaders will share a key commitment to ensure the quality of the Porsche vehicles for all customers.
