Sarawakians, mark your calendars. IKEA Kuching will officially open on 27 November 2026 at Pines Mall, Batu Kawa, bringing the physical IKEA store experience to Sarawak for the first time.
It is also IKEA’s first small-format store in Malaysia, offering around 5,000 home furnishing articles, planning expertise, take-home products and a grab-and-go IKEA Food corner. Best of all, prices will match Peninsular Malaysia.

Hej Kuching: IKEA’s First Small-Format Store in Malaysia
IKEA Kuching will be more compact than the familiar flagship stores in Damansara, Cheras, Tebrau and Batu Kawan. The experience, however, stays the same: room settings, home furnishing inspiration, affordable products, planning services and food, in a format designed for easier, more convenient shopping.
The opening is part of IKEA Malaysia’s broader omnichannel growth strategy, complementing its existing stores, e-commerce channels, delivery services and fulfilment network to give customers more choice in how they shop.
5,000 Articles at IKEA Kuching, From Essentials to Full Room Solutions
Customers can explore solutions across key areas of the home, take selected furniture and accessories home immediately, and order from around 5,000 articles for collection or home delivery.
The range spans living rooms, bedrooms, dining, kitchens, storage, children’s spaces and more. Familiar favourites are on the list too, including the SKOGSTA dining table, KALLAX shelving unit, POÄNG armchair, NIPÅSEN bench, BILLY bookcase and the 365+ range.

Every product follows IKEA’s Democratic Design approach, bringing together form, function, quality, sustainability and low price. For bigger changes at home, the store will also offer planning support to turn a simple idea into a complete solution.
“For the First Time, Sarawakians Will Experience IKEA”
“The opening of IKEA Kuching will be a very special moment for us because it brings us closer to our vision of creating a better everyday life at home for the many people,” said Takeshi Murai, Country Retail Director, IKEA Malaysia. “For the first time, Sarawakians will be able to experience IKEA physically, right here in Kuching.”
He added that the store is about reaching more people in a way that feels relevant to how they live. “Whether it is one small improvement or a more complete home solution, we want good design, function and quality to be within reach of the many.”
Same IKEA Kuching Prices as Peninsular Malaysia
For Sarawakians, this is the headline. IKEA Kuching will offer the same prices on goods and services as Peninsular Malaysia, with no additional East Malaysia price premium.
“Affordability is an important part of that promise, and Sarawakians will enjoy the same IKEA prices as customers in Peninsular Malaysia,” Murai said. “As we grow IKEA in Malaysia, my priority is to make sure we stay true to what matters, which is understanding how people live, creating real value in their everyday lives, and keeping good design within reach of the many.”
Meatballs, Curry Puffs and Hot Dogs Are Coming Too
For many, an IKEA visit is not complete without IKEA Food. IKEA Kuching will introduce a grab-and-go food format adapted for the smaller store, serving favourites such as IKEA meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs and soft serve. A selection of Swedish food products will also be available to bring home.

IKEA Family Perks and an Exciting Opening Weekend
Visitors can also join IKEA Family, the IKEA loyalty community, with membership integrated into the IKEA Kuching shopping journey. Members can look forward to benefits, selected offers and experiences throughout the year.
The fun won’t stop on opening day either. Activities will run throughout the opening weekend from 27 to 29 November 2026, with details on activities and IKEA Family offers to be announced closer to launch. For updates, visit ikea.my/kuching.
