PUTRAJAYA 27th July: In celebration of World Youth Skills Day, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia proudly showcases the transformative impact of its EmPOWER Programme. This innovative initiative cultivates purpose-driven leaders equipped with the skills necessary to address global challenges and contribute to sustainable development
This year, 231 students received their IMPACT Transcripts, with 17 awarded the Provost Prize and 4 receiving the IMPACT Prize, sponsored by EXPERIAN for outstanding achievements. The program’s impact extends beyond the campus. Datuk (Dr) Nicol Ann David, Co-Founder of the Nicol David Organisation, commends the program’s community impact: “I was impressed to see students undertaking the EmPOWER Programme practically mobilizing their purpose into positive impact by raising funds for NGOs aligned with their sense of purpose. Our Little Legends programme was one of the beneficiaries of this highly impactful work, demonstrating how education can be a catalyst for meaningful community engagement.”
Through collaborations with organizations like the Nicol David Organisation, Malaysian Federation of the Deaf, and Teach For Malaysia, the EmPOWER Programme addresses critical areas such as employability, mental health, environmental conservation, and social development. These initiatives not only demonstrate the University’s dedication to fostering social capital but also align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
