FIFA World Cup in Qatar
First Muslim Country
Qatar has become the first Middle Eastern and Muslim country to host the FIFA World Cup between the 21 previous World Cups. The event started in Qatar on 20 November to the upcoming 18 December 2022. FIFA World Cup Qatar is the chance for the region to show and celebrate its growing love for the game.
Because Qatar is a Muslim country, they have set its ground rules and will not be changing them for the game such as illegal to be seen drunk in public but it designated a specific place to serve alcohol to the fans watching the game.

On 20th November 2022, the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar was live broadcast on television for the whole world to enjoy their performance. The incredible opening ceremony was at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor with the theme “Hope, Jubilation and Respect” at 10 pm Malaysia Time.
The ceremony was kicked off with a beautiful performance from the dancers and a sudden appearance of Morgan Freeman a famous American actor with Ghanim Al Muftah, a Qatari Youtuber and a politics student at Loughborough University who was born without the lower half of his body.
Besides, Qatar has revealed its mascot for this year FIFA by flying it into the air in the Al-Bayt Stadium. The cute mascot is called La’eeb and it is an Arabic word meaning super skilled player. The mascot is inspired by a traditional piece of Qatari clothing called ghutra.
The highlight of the ceremony is Jeon Jungkook, a singer and one of the members of BTS performing the song Dreamers featuring Fahad Al Kubaisi. Qatar has made every country participating in this year’s FIFA feel appreciated with huge head-less jerseys of different countries and also country flags have been waved.
