Malaysian photographers, videographers and content creators got to test the EOS R8 Mark II in real shooting conditions as Canon Marketing Malaysia (Canon) kicked off the nationwide EOS R8 Mark II Experience Tour 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.

Running under the theme “Created To Explore”, the programme takes the recently introduced full-frame camera off the launch stage and into creators’ hands through immersive shooting experiences, creator sharing sessions and community workshops across Malaysia.

What Is the EOS R8 Mark II Experience Tour?

The EOS R8 Mark II Experience Tour lets creative communities try the camera first-hand instead of just reading about it. Each stop combines practical shooting opportunities with insights from Canon specialists and fellow creators.

By taking the camera into real-world use, Canon aims to inspire creators to explore new perspectives, push their creative boundaries and step up into full-frame photography and content creation.

Canon Champions Malaysia’s Creative Community

Masato Yoshiie, President & CEO of Canon Marketing Malaysia, said storytelling today is about sharing ideas as much as capturing images.

“Today, photography and storytelling are more than capturing what we see. They are about sharing our own ideas, perspectives and experiences with others. The EOS R8 Mark II reflects our commitment to giving photographers and content creators freedom and confidence to explore their creativity,” he said.

“Guided by our Kyosei philosophy of living and working together for the common good, Canon remains committed to supporting Malaysia’s creative community and creating more opportunities for creators to grow their craft. That is the spirit behind this Experience Tour.”

Edward Chang, Head of Division, Image Communication Business, Canon Marketing Malaysia, added:

“The way people create today continues to evolve. For us at Canon, this means we need to stay close to the community, understand how creators work, and continue finding ways to support their growth. Beyond its features, we want you to see how the EOS R8 Mark II performs in different shooting situations and discover how it can fit into the way you create.”

Five Shooting Scenes Put the Camera to the Test

The Kuala Lumpur leg of the EOS R8 Mark II Experience Tour featured sessions by Canon EOS Specialist Marcus Choo, content creator ZY Cheng and Canon EOS Master Johnson Wee. The trio shared product insights and their perspectives on photography, videography and content creation.

Attendees then put the camera through its paces across five specially curated shooting scenes:

  • A live graffiti artist performance
  • A model portrait shoot
  • A dance battle
  • A Muay Thai performance
  • Skateboarding action

Each setup was designed to challenge different techniques across portraiture, movement and action, so users could see what the camera can do in dynamic, real-world scenarios.

After Kuala Lumpur, the tour moves on to two more main events:
