With this victory, Malaysia’s struggles against Taiwan in the Taipei Municipal Stadium were ended. They took the lead with six points.
Although Malaysia dominated the first half of the match, they were unable to continue taking their opportunities. Taiwan’s tenacious defense stopped Malaysia’s attempts even after the interval. Darren’s fifth goal in 23 games reversed the tide to Malaysia’s advantage, making it difficult for Taiwan to mount a successful counterattack.
After winning their first two games, Malaysia will play against Oman for the second spot on March 21, 2024.

Malaysia appears to be headed in the right direction this time around. This is due to the fact that they have already recorded seven victories this year, including victories over three teams ranked higher than them.
They only suffered two losses, with one victory coming over India (ranked 102 in the world), and two draws against Syria (ranked 94) and China (ranked 80). Impressive is definitely an understatement.
Right now, they are starting to show their stripes and fangs. Looking forward to team Malaysia to continue roar-ing in the World Cup Qualifier 2026 season. Let’s together wish them the best in their upcoming matches.
