If you think 1 Utama or Sunway Pyramid is hard enough to navigate in, well you’re not wrong but you might need to add IOI City Mall into that massive shopping mall list.
IOI City Mall will defeat 1 Utama as the largest shopping mall when its phase 2 opens for businesses in the near future. It is set to be open for the public on June 2022 and will be the largest mall in this land of giants.
Phase 1 of the mall consists of a diverse entertainment including District 21, Icescape Ice Rink, GSC Cinemas, and retail mix including fast-fashion and sports brands such as Uniqlo, Under Armour, Adidas, H&M, Muji, and Guess.
With approximately 350 tenants currently, you can also find a home improvement outlet, a supermarket, and a department store while you’re there!
Initially opened to the public in November 2014, the whole area takes up to 1.5 million square feet.
However, when the new phase of the mall started, it took up to another 1 million square feet making the total area of the mall as massive as 2.5 million square feet.
This beats the used-to-be largest mall in town, 1 Utama (2.19 million square feet), Sunway Pyramid (1.7 million square feet), and Mid Valley Megamall (1.82 million square feet).
With up to 70% tenants secured, IOI City Mall will be the house of 11 anchor tenants including AEON, GSC, Proton, IOI Sports Centre, IOI Grand Hall and many more. Among other new businesses that have signed up as a tenant in IOI City Mall Phase 2 includes brands like Best Denki, Food Empire, MajuHome, Nitori, Objet, Valiram Group, and many more.
“Complementing the existing mall’s interior and exterior designs, ICM phase two’s central glass atrium filters natural light through the six-storied building. Besides the retail outlets, phase two also houses a 40,000 sq ft exhibition hall, a new cinema concept with an IMAX hall, a modern dining arcade, together with a new rooftop sports centre and gymnasium.”The Sun Daily
