When it comes to cutting-edge entertainment, KLPAC (Kuala Lumpur Performing Art Centre) frequently sells out performances of a wide variety of events each year, packing the house with patrons to watch all of them. Fans of instagram-able places like cafes, art galleries, and as such AND especially those who have no idea its existence, definitely can appreciate how musical arts could turn into memorable yet exciting views to be shared to the internet.
There are always world premieres at KLPAC, including in the fields of dance, theatre, music, and musicals, and festivals. If you’re looking for something fun to do in Kuala Lumpur this November, Rise Malaysia recommends checking out one of the many events taking place at KLPAC Shows November 2022.
The KLPAC String Orchestra is aiming for a thrilling mashup of anime and classics after a successful comeback that saw the premiere of its new Music Director and Resident Conductor Andrea Sim.
Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, and Castle in the Sky are just a few of the well-known animated films whose themes are featured in A Fantasy World: Anime x Classical, played by the 50-member klpac String Orchestra.
One of the most exciting parts of the show is the solo piano performance by Maxy Chan, who will play two pieces: Sparkle from Your Name and Ashitaka and San from Princess Mononoke. The young pianist has already made a name for herself on the festival circuit, having performed at prestigious events including the 10th Penang Island Jazz Festival, 11th Johor Bahru Arts Festival, and 22nd Kota Kinabalu Music Festival.
Fans of classical music can also look forward to a variety of masterpieces such as Themes from New World Symphony by Dvorak, Vocalise by Rachmaninov, and two passages from Requiem by Mozart.

The 13th Malaysian Composers Concert Series 2022 is proudly presented by the UiTM Conservatory of Music, College of Creative Arts, in association with The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre.
Concerts in the series encouraged innovative composition and performance to strengthen the local music community. It’s a chance for up-and-coming musicians and composers in Malaysia to show off their unique skills and approaches to music. In addition to showcasing established artists, the concert series gives newcomers a chance to make an impression.
As a means of maintaining and perpetuating the nation’s musical and cultural history, it is intended that the composer concert series will provide a stage for the works of student composers, young current Malaysian composers, and experienced local composers.
This series will consist of four concerts, each of which will have its own distinct theme and take place over the course of three days of this KLPAC Shows November 2022 series.

As of its 2021 release, MONO’s Pilgrimage of the Soul studio album is the group’s eleventh overall. Pilgrimage of the Soul, recorded and mixed during the height of the COVID-19 epidemic in the summer of 2020, is appropriately titled since it not only charts MONO’s long, steady trip to this time and place, but also reflects the peaks and valleys of the band as they reach their third decade.
Similar to 2019’s Nowhere Now Here, which marked the beginning of a subtle but major creative shift in the MONO canon, Pilgrimage of the Soul is arguably the most dynamic MONO album to date. While MONO’s foundation was formed in the familiar juxtaposition of soft and loud, Pilgrimage of the Soul achieves its charm through the introduction of intriguing new electronic instruments and textures, most notably through faster tempos that are clearly influenced by disco and techno. This album is as full of surprises and as engulfed in splendour as everything else MONO has ever released, and it all comes together to make this their most surprising work to date.
MONO formed in Japan at the turn of the millennium, influenced by both the forefathers of gloomy experimental rock (My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai) and the great classical composers (Beethoven, Morricone). With time and hard work, they’ve become one of the most exciting and innovative experimental rock bands around. Considering the deliberate, patient nature of their music, it is only natural that they have progressed at a similarly deliberate pace. MONO is a group that places great importance on nuance and provides substantial payoff for patience.
