The communications and multimedia ministry revealed that the Malaysian Family Internet Packages have received a good response from the public. A total of 103,528 users have subscribed to the two packages providing mobile internet facilities.
Malaysian Family Internet Packages
The Malaysian Family Internet Packages include the Malaysian Youth Package and the Malaysian Family Device Package.
The Malaysian Family Youth Package is a prepaid package for teenagers and students to gain Internet access for online learning. This package is open to teenagers and students, including postgraduates.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Family Device Package provides all Malaysians with an enhanced version of 4G VoLTE device for free. This initiative allows all Malaysians to own the latest device, ensuring that no one is left behind in this digital age. All Malaysian with a new or existing post-paid subscription are eligible to apply for this package
Exceeding initial target
According to secretary-general Mohammad Mentek, the total figure as of date exceeded the initial target of getting 100,000 users for the Malaysian Family youth and family device packages.
Mohammad Mentek was speaking to Bernama and RTM after visiting the Kampung Terbak digital economy centre (Kampung Terbak PEDi) yesterday (28 November 2021). MCMC chief regulatory officer Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin as well as Kampung Terbak PEDi manager Suhaida Suriman were his companion.
Following the good response from the public, the ministry expects the number of subscribers to reach 130,000 by the end of the year.
As of now, the family device package has 31,176 users whereas the youth package has 72,352 subscribers. The latter costs RM30 for 3 months of data usage.
We would like to congratulate the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and all telcos for achieving this target.
