With new incentives totalling over RM5 million, Malaysia sets its sights on becoming a global leader in the digital creative industry.
Malaysia is doubling down on its digital creative sector, spanning video games, animation, and the metaverse, with fresh funding and support programmes launched by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). These initiatives are designed to empower local creators, fuel innovation, and elevate Malaysia’s presence on the international stage.
Turning Creativity into Global Impact
The digital creative industry has become one of Malaysia’s most promising economic drivers. Since 2011, it has generated RM87.25 billion in revenue, contributed RM11.18 billion in export sales, and provided jobs for over 11,000 Malaysians.
Now, MDEC is upping the game by announcing new financial incentive programmes that strengthen every stage of the value chain, from talent development to market access.
“MDEC sees this industry as a strategic pillar of our economy. Our goal is to help local talents turn their passion into globally competitive digital content,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, CEO of MDEC.
