Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has launched the MY Digital Creativity Festival 2021, combining video games conference – LEVEL UP KL and animation initiative – Kre8tif into a single festival.
The MY Digital Creativity Festival (MYDCF) this year is an animation and game community based virtual festival. It is conducted to celebrate the digital creative content industry ecosystem in Malaysia and the rest of Southeast Asia.
What to expect from MYDCF 2021?
This year, the MYDCF will feature several programmes for industry professionals to attend including:
- Industry conference
- Business Connect Programme
- SEA Game Jam, and
- Workshop
There will be two portions of the MYDCF, running on different months:
8 September – 30 September 2021
The virtual festival will begin with a business conference and networking portion, targeting professionals in the digital creative content industry.
1 November – 30 November 2021
Then, the second portion will take place in November, featuring a Gamified Expo and E-sports which will showcase the best of the region’s digital creative content offerings. This portion is open to the public.
With LEVEL UP KL and Kre8tif running along this year, there are more for you to explore from the MYDCF 2021.
LEVEL UP KL
LEVEL UP KL is an annual Southeast Asia Game Developers conference, bringing in business, technical insights and future-shaping trends from thought-leader keynotes as well as high-level panels from all over the world.
There will be a Project Pitch section where game developers can pitch their projects to international investors.
Kre8tif
Meanwhile, Kre8tif is a content accelerator for small and medium animation start-ups to support and accelerate their creative content businesses. Since 2009, it has been dedicated to gathering industry participants from the animation and design industry. This year will mark its first major event open to public attendees.
The Elevator Pitch by Kre8tif, similar to the Project Pitch of LEVEL UP KL, it allows animation studios to present their latest projects to broadcasters and investors, showcasing their ideas to the world.
According to MDEC vice president (tech ecosystems and globalisation) Gopi Ganesalingam, MYDCF 2021 also features a new Blockchain Bootcamp. The boot camp serves to share the latest tech in the blockchain games ecosystem and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Moreover, there will also be an exhibition coming soon with exciting public virtual events and activities, which includes:
- Game Expo
- Stage Show
- E-sports Tournament, and
- Job Fair
