Do you find yourself fantasizing about your life, being better than how it currently is, even though a part of you knows that it is not entirely possible to grasp that life? That is you being delusional. And the good news is, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! You can hop on the ‘delulu’ trend and feel empowered in your own life. Well, at least in the life you are dreaming of.
“It’s A Way Of Life”, Says Gen Z
Is it, though? The ‘delulu’ trend is seen as a new way of manifesting good things. But, if it really is defined as a form of manifestation, what could go wrong?
The Virtue In Being Delulu

If you perceive being ‘delulu’ as ‘not living in reality’, you might be right. But what’s wrong with that? (We’ll get to that part later). Being ‘delulu’ can positively impact your life, be it your personal life or professional life. It boosts your self-esteem. It is almost the same as the Batman Effect. You escape the fear of reality by simply not thinking about it and when there is no barrier in life, there will be no fear to face.
Anxious to attend a meeting? Just make up a fantasy where you ace the meeting with ease. That’ll be enough to prepare your confidence before attending the meeting. If you think about it, don’t you think that being delusional can also be a way for you to be optimistic about the future?
The Setbacks Of Being Delulu

You have imagined yourself being the center of attention in your fantasy. But now, you find yourself under-performing and what actually happened is not close to your ‘delulu’ dream at all. This is where the problem sets in. You will feel like you got worked up for nothing. You will feel demotivated and afraid to be optimistic about your future and yourself again. All because you want to avoid disappointment. This will eventually lead you to do the bare minimum, or in other words, stay in your comfort zone. As long as you are doing your job, you’re fine. No need to go all out.
The ‘delulu’ trend will certainly mess up with your self-esteem if done and taken too seriously. Tips to avoid this:
Don’t bite more than you could chew.
Is Being Delulu The Solulu?

Well, there are always two sides of the coin. It really depends on how you handle it. If you see it as a way of manifesting positive things, sure it can be the ‘solulu’. Law of attraction, remember? The key is to be moderate and realistic in your ‘delulu’ fantasies. Although it is called fantasy for a reason, you should limit yourself to only thinking positively of your future within your capacity. At least if things do not turn out very pretty, you will not sink into the earth’s pit.
You should also bear in mind that being ‘delulu’ can be seen as being dishonest, or lying to yourself because, at the end of the day, you are ignoring reality. How are you supposed to live life, its ups and downs, if you ignore the things that could have built you into a better person?
But, being a bit ‘delulu’ would not hurt, right? Look at Elle Woods, our queen of ‘delulu’. A sprinkle of it, now and then, to spice up your life, should be fine. Pair it up with some effort to turn your dreams into reality. Try not to be too sucked into your fantasies. It would not only affect your life negatively, but you’d probably annoy your friends, too (sorry, not sorry!).
