Malaysia participated in Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games which was held in Trinidad and Tobago from 4th August to 11th August 2023. Malaysian team which consists of 14 athletes took part in 3 different sports, which are cycling, swimming, and athletics. Goh Li Hen made history by winning a gold medal at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games. The 17-year-old from Kuala Lumpur took the top spot in the men’s 200m butterfly event at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva.

Li Hen gains the first gold for Malaysia with his impressive record, 2 minutes 03.63 seconds at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games. He competed along with many talented swimmers from many different countries and success to win first place during the final round.

Li Hen get to grab the title after competing with England’s Reuben Rowbotham-Keating who gained the silver medal with 2 minutes 03.84 seconds. While Jarden Dylan Eaton, a swimmer from South Africa, won the bronze medal with 2 minutes 06.07 seconds.
It was a dominant performance from Li Hen, who led from start to finish. He was well ahead of his rivals at the halfway mark and then put in a strong final lap to secure the gold medal for Malaysia teams in the Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games.

This sports competition is an international sporting event that would be held every four years with 72 teams from different countries participating in the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games.

Goh Li Hen is a rising star in the world of swimming. He has already won several medals at a few sports competitions, including a silver medal for the 200m butterfly category and a bronze medal for the 400m IM category at the 18th Singapore National Championship.
