FamilyMart recently announced that they just launched two FamilyMart Superstore concept franchises! This concept store is similar to those ‘Konbini’ stores – convenience stores – in Japan. You can basically do everything at Japan’s Konbini such as paying bills, buying magazines, and getting your packages sent. Though that may not be the case for Malaysia’s convenience store, we can look forward to what the future has to offer.

What is FamilyMart Superstore and why is it different than the normal store

With the rising popularity of convenience stores in the country, they decided its time to step their game. They launched two new stores with the new concept, FamilyMart Superstore, one in Puchong and another one in Sri Petaling. This is to commemorate its fifth anniversary being since its debut in Malaysia.

New and modern look for the convenience store

What we can say based on first impression is that they have a completely new and refreshing look. The fancy look comes with more earthy tones and new fonts over their sections. The muted brown and green colours really remind us a lot of Muji, a Japanese Retail Company.

Specialized seats for dine-in customers

The store also has two types of seating areas: Individual and Group. You can even charge your electronic devices while enjoying some delicious meals from the store. Despite they lack what most ‘Konbini’ in Japan has, this seems to be the benchmark for the convenience store industry in Malaysia.

FamilyMart Superstore to open 20 more outlets by the end of 2021

They aimed to expand and open 20 more franchises in the near future. FamilyMart Superstore is said to have fresher and more variety of food. This concept store added extra freezers for their items so that customers have more options like oden or other frozen food to enjoy at home. This expanded inventory also includes deli meats, salad, and more versions of their favourites like sandwiches, pastries, onigiri, desserts, and snacks.
