ASICS Malaysia hosted the Ladies Pickleball Special 2025 in Petaling Jaya. A lively group of 96 women from daughters to retirees, all served, rallied, and bonded on the court. Their energy turned a friendly competition into an inspiring display of courage and confidence.
Stories That Speak Volumes

Everyday heroes took centre stage, showing how pickleball makes life richer:
- Nurul Azni Mustafa, 39, an engineer and mother of three, shares how pickleball restores her mental balance. “I just didn’t feel like myself until I was back on court,” she said. Plus, playing alongside her daughter brought them closer.
- Ashamira Abdul Malik, a 37-year‑old teacher, agrees. “For my kids, it’s discipline, time management and family bonding wrapped in a fun game.”
- Norbaini Bahudin, 59, says it best. “Age is just a number. Pickleball keeps my mind and body moving.”
- Kara Simon, 36, working with UNHCR, calls it an obsession. “It’s uplifting. After a match, my opponent congratulated me, that support keeps me going.” She now plays four to five times weekly with her family.
- Lee Kar Yee, 27, sees pickleball as a stress-buster and concentration booster. She advocates more ladies‑only events to empower female players.
Why This Matters

ASICS believes that sport does more than exercise as it builds relationships, confidence, and community. As Boon Tib Soom Nik, Country Manager of ASICS Malaysia said, “This tournament pays tribute to every woman who shows up for herself and uplifts those around her”
Quarterly themed events like this one put the spotlight on women, forging inclusive spaces for all skill levels. In August, the next tournament will continue this movement.
