Plastic pollution is at crisis levels, and Malaysia ranks 10th globally in per capita plastic waste mismanagement. With each person generating approximately 25.49 kg of mismanaged plastic waste annually, urgent action is needed to reverse the damage.
Recognising this, Epson Malaysia has joined forces with EcoKnights, a leading environmental organisation, to raise awareness and take real action in the fight against plastic waste. Through impactful initiatives, including a Plastic Reduction Talk and a Beach Clean-Up at Pantai Morib, Banting, the collaboration aims to empower Malaysians to reduce their plastic consumption and embrace sustainable habits.
Epson’s Mission: Beyond Technology, Towards a Greener Planet
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for Epson, it’s a commitment to real environmental impact.
“At Epson Malaysia, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond technology – it is about fostering real change,”
– Morikawa Tomohito, Managing Director of Epson Malaysia
Under Epson’s Environmental Vision 2050, the company is striving for a carbon-negative, underground resource-free future, actively reducing plastic use and pioneering heat-free, energy-efficient printing technology to lower environmental impact.
Plastic Reduction Talk: Educating for Action

Epson Malaysia kickstarted the initiative with a Plastic Reduction Talk, an engaging session designed to:
- Educate employees on the dangers of plastic waste.
- Provide practical tips to reduce single-use plastics at work and home.
- Inspire sustainable habits within the organisation and beyond.
By fostering a culture of sustainability, Epson and EcoKnights are empowering individuals to take ownership of their environmental impact and adopt responsible resource consumption in daily life.
Beach Clean-Up at Pantai Morib: Turning Awareness into Action

To turn knowledge into tangible action, Epson Malaysia and EcoKnights organised a Beach Clean-Up at Pantai Morib, Banting.
Key Impact of the Beach Clean-Up:
- 43.6kg of trash removed in a single day
- 25.7kg of plastic waste collected
- Over 300 pieces of waste cleared from the coastline
More than just cleaning up, the event showcased the devastating impact of plastic pollution on Malaysia’s natural environment, reinforcing the need for collective responsibility from individuals, businesses, and policymakers.
“Sustainability is no longer optional – it is essential for the future of our planet. Through initiatives like this, we are taking real action to combat plastic pollution.”
– Fadly Bakhtiar, Vice President & Programme Director at EcoKnights
Driving Systemic Change: A Call to Action

Plastic pollution and climate change are accelerating at an alarming rate, but small actions lead to big changes.
Epson Malaysia and EcoKnights believe that businesses, communities, and individuals must work together to:
- Reduce plastic waste through conscious consumption.
- Protect our ecosystems by cleaning up polluted areas.
