The Ministry of Health Malaysia announces that the Medical Devices Authority (MDA) has given conditional approval for two Covid-19 self-test kits for distribution and import. These approved covid-19 self-test kits allow individuals to test for the Covid-19 virus at home.

Thus, this initiates that people can test for the Covid-19 virus at home without going to a medical centre.

The two approved covid-19 self-test kits:

• Salixium Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Rapid Test (Saliva/Nasal Swab Samples) made by Reszon Diagnostic International Sdn Bhd Malaysia

• Gmate Covid-19 Ag Saliva For Home Use by Philosys Co Ltd, South Korea

Both are now on the MDA’s list as recommendation.

You can purchase the two Rapid Antigen Kits at RM39.90 each at a registered community pharmacies and health facilities.

As the test kits might be an essential item in the near future, Malaysians can expect more covid-19 self-test kits being added to the approval list in Malaysia soon.

The self-test kits are convenient options for individuals to test for the virus at home.

However, the government encourages everyone to do another test at medical centre to ensure the accuracy of results.
