On 25th June 2023, the national mixed duo for badminton, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei successfully smashed their way to the second World Tour title champion at the Yonex Taipei Open 2023.

Yonex Taipei Open 2023 is a badminton tournament organized by the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association and BWF. It was held at the Tian-mu Arena, University of Taipei from 20th-25th June 2023.

In Yonex Taipei Open 2023 semi-final, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei showed Malaysians their amazing performance by beating Taiwan duo, Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin with 21-4 and 21-19. Through this win, this duo has one step ahead to hold the Champion title in Yonex Taipei Open 2023.
During the final round, this Malaysian mixed duo successfully denied the other Taiwan duo, Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Lin Xiao Min’s chance to dream about being the title champion after winning with 21-12 and 21-8 in 30 minutes.

Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei won many tournaments since December 2022. They have played together as a duo for Bangladesh International Challenge, the Iran International Challenge, the Orleans Master, and more.
This duo has shown great teamwork after working hard to taste their first win during the Iran International Challenge 2023. They ousted their rival, Hoo Pang Ron and Teoh Mei Xing also from Malaysia with 21-9 and 21-15 in February 2023.

Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei’s victory at the Yonex Taipei Open 2023 has filled Malaysians with pride, as they become the second Malaysian mixed duo to win this title after Koo Kien Keat and Wong Pei Tty in 2004.
After having back-to-back tournaments since the Sudirman Cup on May 2023, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei announced that they would take a short break. They will make a return at the Super 500 Korea Open on 18th – 23rd July 2023.
