The BR-03 Space Mission is Bell & Ross’s latest invitation to look up at the stars. Limited to just 999 pieces, the new timepiece turns the brand’s iconic square case into a porthole onto the cosmos, where a spaceplane, the Earth and the Moon take the place of traditional watch hands.
It follows the success of the BR-03 Astro, launched in 2025, and continues a new collection of limited-edition celestial tableaux built around the dreamlike time display created by Bell & Ross’s Swiss design office.

Space as a Playground for Bell & Ross
Space exploration has long been a universe dear to Bell & Ross. As a specialist in professional instrument watches, the brand designed the BR-03 case after the dials of an aircraft’s cockpit instruments.
With the BR-03 Space Mission, the Maison takes that cockpit spirit beyond the atmosphere, transforming a space scene into an animated tableau on the wrist and giving its square case a whole new dimension.

Meet the Vortex, Dassault Aviation’s Spaceplane of the Future
The star of the dial is the Vortex*, an avant-garde vehicle concept developed by Dassault Aviation. Its name stands for “Véhicule Orbital Réutilisable de Transport et d’Exploration”, or reusable orbital vehicle for transport and exploration.
Breaking away from existing space transportation systems, the versatile Vortex is designed to travel between Earth and orbital platforms, taking off, flying and landing on a runway just like an aircraft. It is a bold vision of how humans may one day travel to and from space. Closer to home, the space race is heating up too, as seen in Malaysia’s leap to the stars.

The BR-03 Space Mission Dial: A Poetic Animated Tableau
Instead of conventional hands, a transparent rotating disc and a travelling spaceplane bring the dial to life. Bell & Ross calls it a “simple complication”, one that turns time-telling, powered by the BR-CAL.325 automatic movement, into a playful and immersive experience worthy of a grand complication.
The Vortex takes off in the foreground, with the Blue Planet and its satellite behind it. The backdrop is black aventurine glass scattered with stars, evoking the infinite expanse of space. Look closely and you will spot a small red dot representing Mars… perhaps the next stop for the Vortex and humanity.

How to Read the Time on the BR-03 Space Mission
Despite its dreamy look, telling the time is as intuitive as reading a classic two-hand watch:
- Hours: The Earth and the Moon are printed on a transparent disc that rotates like an hour hand, with the Moon marking the hour.
- Minutes: The nose of the Vortex makes its own revolution around the dial to indicate the minutes.
With every passing minute, the scene shifts, a gentle reminder of how time changes our perception of the world.
