Creative collaborations are becoming more common across Asia’s lifestyle market. Brands are no longer just selling products. They are building stories around culture, identity, and everyday expression.
The SkechVibe drawingmary collection reflects this shift. With its first Asia-Pacific rollout, Skechers is moving beyond local collaborations into a wider regional platform.
From Local Projects to a Regional Platform
SkechVibe first started as a way to support artists in Southeast Asia. It focused on local collaborations, giving creatives a chance to bring their work into fashion.
This time, the scale is different. The collaboration now stretches across Asia Pacific, bringing together audiences from multiple countries under one collection.
At the centre of this expansion is South Korean illustrator Lee Min Kyung, better known as drawingmary. Her work introduces a softer, more emotional style that connects easily with everyday experiences.
Turning Art Into Everyday Wear

The collection blends simple clothing with storytelling. Instead of bold graphics or complex designs, it focuses on calm, familiar moments.
At the heart of the range is the unisex knit short sleeve tee, featuring six different designs inspired by cities across Asia Pacific. Each design follows drawingmary’s characters, Mary and her dog Day, as they move through different environments.
Malaysia’s version, for example, highlights the hibiscus. Other designs reflect local symbols such as orchids in Singapore, cherry blossoms in Korea, and lotus flowers in Vietnam.
These elements make the collection feel regional, while still keeping a consistent visual style.
Expanding Beyond Apparel
The collection is not limited to clothing. It also includes accessories that extend the same creative idea into daily use.
A tote bag brings together all six cities into one design, forming a connected visual story. It is designed for everyday use, with a simple structure and practical size.
There are also smaller items like Cali Bits, which allow users to personalise footwear. These pieces may seem small, but they reflect a growing trend which add personal identity to everyday items.
Why Creative Collaborations Matter

Across Asia, lifestyle brands are increasingly working with artists. This is not just about design. It is about building emotional connection with consumers.
Art-led collections offer something different from standard products. They create a sense of individuality while still being accessible.
For artists, it opens up new platforms beyond galleries or exhibitions. For brands, it helps them stay relevant in a market where consumers look for more than just function.
Availability and Market Reach
The SkechVibe x drawingmary collection is now available across selected Skechers stores in Malaysia, including Pavilion KL, Suria KLCC, and The Exchange TRX.
It is also available online, making it easier for customers to access the collection across different locations.
With pricing starting from RM59 for accessories and RM159 for apparel, the range is positioned within reach for everyday consumers.
A Broader Shift in Asia’s Lifestyle Market
This collaboration reflects a wider trend in Asia’s consumer space. More brands are combining fashion, art, and storytelling to create deeper engagement.
Instead of focusing only on products, they are building experiences around them. This approach is becoming more visible across retail, especially in urban markets.
As these collaborations grow, they also help strengthen the region’s creative economy by giving artists new ways to reach audiences.
