Ever looked at your living room and thought it felt a little too serious? IKEA Malaysia is inviting Malaysians to loosen up and let their homes have a little fun. With the launch of a brand-new collection, IKEA introduces GREJSIMOJS, a playful 33-piece range that proves play isn’t just for children, but for everyone.
Launched on 11 February 2026, the GREJSIMOJS collection brings together imagination, functionality and affordability in a way that feels fresh, expressive and unmistakably IKEA.
IKEA Introduces GREJSIMOJS
The name GREJSIMOJS, a colloquial word meaning “thingamajig”, perfectly captures the spirit of the collection. It’s whimsical, slightly unexpected and full of personality.
Inspired by insights from the IKEA Play Report, the collection reflects how play can reduce stress, spark creativity and strengthen connections at home. In a world where both children and adults are spending less time on physical play, IKEA introduces GREJSIMOJS as a gentle reminder that play can (and should) be part of everyday life.
“GREJSIMOJS reflects our belief that play should feel natural and accessible, not something extra or complicated,” said Malcolm Pruys, Country Retail Director, IKEA Malaysia. Through playful yet functional design at affordable prices, the brand hopes to inspire Malaysians to create homes that feel expressive, comfortable and full of life.
Familiar Favourites With A Playful Twist
What makes GREJSIMOJS stand out is how it transforms everyday furniture into conversation starters.

The iconic MAMMUT chair, first introduced 30 years ago, gets a cheerful makeover with furry chair covers in bright pink and blue. Storage solutions appear as friendly cats, while speakers are designed to resemble playful mice in purple and green. A classic storage pouffe reveals a cheeky “monster” inside when opened, and even a rocking horse has been reimagined as a sculptural bird.
These are not just decorative pieces, they are practical, functional home furnishings designed to blend seamlessly into daily life long after playtime ends.
Designed For Both Children And Adults
According to Anna Granath, Range Identity Leader for IKEA, GREJSIMOJS was created with both adult and child perspectives in mind.
From a statement rug that doubles as a crawling landscape to tactile objects that invite curiosity, the designers were given the freedom to experiment and rediscover the joy of play themselves. Some drew inspiration from childhood memories of objects they were never allowed to touch, recreating them for modern homes where nothing feels off limits.
Others found inspiration in simple functionality, like a lamp whose turning form began to resemble the gentle head of a giraffe casting a soft night light.

The result? A collection designed to be seen, touched and enjoyed by everyone in the household.
Built Around The Five Playtypes

At the heart of GREJSIMOJS is research. The IKEA Play Report highlights that while many parents want to play more with their children, they often face barriers such as limited time, space and inspiration.
To address this, IKEA developed five Playtypes: Explore, Create, Imagine, Move and Compete. When IKEA introduces GREJSIMOJS, it does so with these natural play behaviours in mind. Each piece in the collection is designed to encourage interaction organically within a home that is meant to be lived in.
The IKEA GREJSIMOJS collection will be available from 12 February 2026 at all IKEA Malaysia stores, IKEA Damansara, IKEA Cheras, IKEA Tebrau and IKEA Batu Kawan, as well as online at IKEA.my.
With this launch, IKEA Malaysia isn’t just introducing furniture. It’s inviting Malaysians to rethink what home can feel like: less rigid, more expressive and perhaps just a little more playful.
