KUALA LUMPUR, 11 April 2025 — Taiwan is returning to MATTA Fair 2025 with a vibrant and inclusive showcase. The Taiwan Pavilion will open from 18 to 20 April at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The themed pavilion, “Salam Taiwan,” brings celebrity energy and a renewed commitment to Muslim-friendly travel experiences.
According to Abe Chou, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration Kuala Lumpur Office, Malaysia is one of Taiwan’s most important tourist markets. “Malaysian tourists are very important to us,” said Chou. “Nearly 40% of Malaysian visitors to Taiwan are Muslim. We aim to grow that by another 10–20%.” He added that Taiwan is becoming more inclusive by offering halal-certified food, prayer facilities, and tailored travel itineraries for Muslim travellers.

This year, three Malaysian personalities will take turns presenting their Taiwan travel stories. They are singer and actress Nabila Razali, and influencers Elcah Hasha and Bajilah. Each personality will share unique perspectives and favourite destinations from their trips to Taiwan.
On the first day, Elcah Hasha will highlight her “Girlfriends’ Getaway” travel experience. Her journey features urban adventures from Taipei to Kaohsiung. She explored bookstores, hot springs, and trendy cafes. One of her highlights is visiting Taiwan’s world-famous night markets, including Shilin and Liuhe. “The energy of Taiwan’s night markets is amazing,” she said. “There are plenty of Muslim-friendly food options available too.”
The second day belongs to Nabila Razali, who will perform her hit songs “Raya Mana” and “Pematah Hati” live on stage. She will also share her personal travel memories from multiple visits to Taiwan. These include behind-the-scenes moments from filming and local interactions. Visitors will also get a chance to win round-trip tickets to Taiwan by joining her “Follow My Day” lucky draw.

On the third day, Bajilah will share her couple’s trip to Taiwan with her husband. Their adventure included scenic cable cars, beach buggy rides, and cultural experiences with Taiwan’s indigenous communities. She will showcase why Taiwan is an ideal destination for couples who love nature and exploration.
One location highlighted by the Taiwan Tourism Administration is Alishan. Director Abe Chou personally recommends it to Malaysian travellers. “If you visit only one place, let it be Alishan,” he said. “It’s beautiful, peaceful, and full of heritage.” Alishan is famous for its misty forests, sunrise views, and the historical Alishan Forest Railway. Many tour packages now include Muslim-friendly options for travellers.
Beyond these travel stories, the pavilion will feature daily themes and cultural engagement. Themes include Urban Trends, Nature & Adventure, and Ambassador’s Picks. Visitors can enjoy live Q&A sessions, craft workshops, giveaways, and photo opportunities with the celebrities. Lucky draws will offer free flights and exclusive Salam Taiwan merchandise.
The Taiwan Pavilion also demonstrates Taiwan’s dedication to making travel easy for Muslims. Guests will discover how halal food, prayer rooms, and curated activities make Taiwan both accessible and respectful. It is more than a travel showcase — it is a bridge of understanding between cultures.

The public is invited to visit the Taiwan Tourism Administration Website to get to know more about Salam Taiwan. Whether you are planning your first visit or a return trip, Taiwan welcomes you with open arms. Say hello to a new journey. Say Salam Taiwan.
