This year’s showcase, a milestone for AmLife, featured an exclusive public sleep health exhibition, a first for the company, and extended its reach across Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. Collaborating with esteemed organizations like the World Sleep Society (WSS), Taiwan Sleep Care Association, and University Malaya Specialist Centre, AmLife reinforced its commitment to elevating sleep health awareness regionally.
The urgency of this initiative is underscored by the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023, which revealed that 38% of adult Malaysians are sleep-deprived, and a staggering 9 out of 10 suffer from at least one sleep disorder.

Dr. Eyad Almasri, MD, Clinical Professor and Sleep Medicine Specialist from the World Sleep Society (USA), delivered a compelling presentation on the severe consequences of sleep deprivation. He emphasised:

Besides, he also shared regarding his research that the accumulation of beta-amyloid, a waste protein, during sleep deprivation is strongly linked to dementia. Prioritizing good sleep hygiene, regular sleep schedules, and a conducive sleep environment is crucial.
Further emphasizing the health risks, Dr. Julius Goh, Head & Neck Surgeon from University Malaya Specialist Centre (UMSC), addressed the impact of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
“Clinical research shows that OSA can disrupt hormonal balance, increase hunger levels, and slow metabolism, making weight gain more likely. Additionally, OSA can trigger insulin resistance, and raise the risk of Type 2 diabetes.”
