Throughout the centuries, Melaka has played a significant role in our history and also our independence. It was also where our Father of Independence, Tunku Abdul Rahman announced the independence date when he arrived from the United Kingdom.

1. A’ Famosa

A’ Famosa marks the Portuguese remnant age that started in 1511, the starting point of the colonial era. Isn’t it cool how the starting point of the colonial and independence era was in Melaka? The remains of this magnificent A’ Famosa fort standstill today after the Dutches’ attempt to destroy it in 1641.
2. Baba & Nyonya Heritage Musuem

Melaka is the heritage of the historical blending of Malay and Chinese, known as the Baba & Nyonya. This Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum displays exhibits of the Baba & Nyonya crafts, furniture, and paintings. Although there are rapid changes in Melaka even after all these years, the Baba & Nyonya culture will always offer the unique diversity of Malays and Chinese in one location.
3. Sultanate Palace Museum

This Sultanate Palace Museum holds a replica of one of Melaka’s rulers back in the 15th century. There are around 1300 artifacts you can find in this museum. You can also observe the architectural structure of the palace and how they used to live back then. Visiting here is truly wonderful!
4. The Dutch Square

This popular tourist attraction features brightly-colored Dutch colonial buildings when they took over. This Dutch Square is often surrounded by trishaws used to tour around the city. It is a great place to snap photographs and take a moment to look at the colonial architecture. There are many food places to try out around this place too.
5. Melaka River

The history of the Melaka River goes back to the era of the mighty Melaka Malay Sultanate, which attracted traders from all over the world to engage in trade and commerce.
