Hiking is not an easy weekend activity for beginners. However, there is always a suitable place for everyone to start with. So, here’s a list of beginner-friendly hiking spots that beginners can consider for their first hike in Klang Valley.
Beginner Hiking Spots In Klang Valley
1. Taman Tugu, Kuala Lumpur
Taman Tugu is like a walking trail up the hill, this is why it is one of the best beginner hiking spots. Besides, it is also a family-friendly park with multiple routes for you to choose from to reach the peak. So don’t worry about the difficulty level and give it a try.

2. Kiara Hill Walk, Kuala Lumpur
Another fairly easy trail for hiking. Kiara Hill Walk is mostly covered with pedestrian road. It is a safe place for beginners to train their stamina before challenging those steep and rocky route. This is a place popular with bikers too!

3. Bukit Sri Bintang, Kepong
Bukit Sri Bintang is not as popular as other hills in the area but it is also a great place to begin your hiking experience. The difficulty level of the hike there is between easy and moderate. The inclines there will make you feel tired but they are not too steep.

4. Bukit Gasing Forest Reserve, Selangor
Located in Petaling Jaya, Bukit Gasing also offers many hiking routes of different difficulty levels. There will be signboards showing you the approximate length and hiking duration too. For beginners, try the easiest trail first before you challenge yourself for the difficult ones.

5. Bukit Kembara, Ampang
Bukit Kembara is nestled in the Taman Tun Abdul Razak area of Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. People love this hiking spot mostly because of the lake there. Lake and hill, it’s a great combination for a nature activity. Moreover, the lake is photography-worthy!

6. Wawasan Hill, Puchong
Another gem for hiking. Wawasan Hill is known for its waterfall there. Hikers would take the waterfall trail to enjoy the relaxing waterfall when they arrive. While the hike up would make you go breathless, catching your breath by the waterfall will be one of the best experiences in life.

7. Bukit Besi, Kuala Lumpur
Bukit Besi is located in the Sungai Besi and Alam Damai area of southeast Kuala Lumpur. The trail there is fairly easy but there are still some steep sections you will have to watch out for. Besides, there will be a few checkpoints before you reach the peak for you to have a break in between. Once you reach the top, you’ll see a communication tower and a view of the city.

8. Broga Hill, Semenyih
Broga Hill is one of the most popular beginner-friendly hiking spots in Klang Valley. The view at the peak is known to be the best, especially during sunrise. Thus, many hikers would go for an early hike just to catch the moment up there.

Be ready & careful for your hike
As a beginner, make sure that you are fully prepared before you go for it. As a rule of thumb, just follow the regular hikers there and ask for help if you are in trouble. Just recently, it was reported that a grandmother aged 80-year-old can still hike up an over 800 metres hill in 2 hours. This can be you too if you start hiking now and keep up with a weekly routine.
