Originally initiated by Sultan Idris Murshidul’azam Shah, Masjid Ubudiah, Perak was built from 1913 – 1917. Unfortunately, this mosque with Moorish and Indo-Saracenic architectural design was not completely built when Sultan Idris was still around due to his death in a year before; 1916. Johor’s state mosque Masjid Negeri Sultan Abu Bakar was built 1892, influenced by the architecture of the Victorian era and Mughal Indian architecture.
